Childcare at Holyrood Nursery Bury – Our Rooms

Baby Room (0-2 years)

Baby room here at Holyrood Nursery Bury

In our Baby Room, (0 – 2 years of age), we have highly experienced staff whose priority is to follow the home routine of each baby as closely as possible. We have a spacious play area. We provide a variety of stimulating activities in a caring and friendly environment in order to promote your baby’s all round development. Babies will participate in a range of play such as painting, heuristic play and sensory experience all of which help develop and enhance their merging skills. We have unique planning boards displayed in the room for you to view and see what activities and development your child will be participating in that month.

Parents are required to supply nappies and milk to ensure continuity between home and nursery for all babies. We are a breast feeding friendly nursery and support mothers returning to work who still wish to breast feed. Staff are trained in the storage and use of breast milk and we welcome you visiting to feed during the day where possible and have a quiet parents room suitable for breast feeding.

Here at Holyrood we encourage that when your child is around 2 years of age we would hope to advance them to the Toddlers 1 Room. This would take place after discussions with yourself.

Toddler 1 Room (24-28 months)

When children in the Toddler 1 Room are about two years old they are given more of an extensive range of quality continuous provision and activities provided for their continuing development.

The period in the Toddler 1 Room provides for a smooth transition to Toddler 2 Room by adopting a more challenging and varied approach to the day. This will include such activities as painting, sand and water play, music, physical activity and much more. All activities and next steps for your child will be displayed on our unique planning boards so you can monitor the activities and development of your child throughout the month.

Each child’s day is recorded for you to take home so you know exactly what your child has been up to.

Toddler 2 Room (2-3 years)

After the Toddler 1 Room we will look to move your child to Toddler 2 Room. This should happen when your child is around 2½ years old. We will discuss the transition process with you before any room changes happen.

The Toddler 2 Room provides a structured day with a much greater choice of learning opportunities including arts and crafts, construction activities, table top games and much more. There are two large rooms spread across the 1st floor of the building where the children explore the continuous provision in spacious surroundings. We will also introduce early numeracy and literacy skills and activities designed to develop your child’s communication skills. Again all activities and next steps for your child will be displayed on our unique planning boards so you can monitor the activities and development of your child throughout the month.

Each day children spend time outside in the play area or at the local park. Your child’s day is recorded for you to take home so you will know what they have been learning at Holyrood.

Pre-School (3-5 years)

Holyrood is recognised as a pre-school center by the Education Department. In the Pre-School Room children will follow the Early Years Foundation Stage. Your child will progress to the Pre-School Room the year before they start school.

We pride ourselves on ensuring that children have a smooth transition to school when they leave the nursery and that they do so confidently and independently, whilst taking with them the enjoyment of learning and a pride in their achievements. We strive for your child to have all the foundations in place in order to achieve in school.

At the end of each year our children take part in a graduation ceremony where they are presented with their leaving certificates and there is always a special party to mark the end of their time at Holyrood!
